the first fall

It's early but I found this leaf in my yard 

so colorful and not from one of my trees

so I painted this to preserve it...

The plunking has already begun too

Acorns are dropping and bouncing across the roof or hitting the ground

 I found these leaves on the deck and brought them inside to paint 

The acorns have been plunking on the roof and bouncing on the deck

I played and made a great mess

with my little gelli plate 

and my new metallic acrylics

After all the clean up 

these were the only dry ones

Think I will be doing this again 

with a few more texture tools.

This one is 4x5 

and will be perfect for my ACEO Collection

 all the pages have a pocket 

with a card stock insert 

 I really like the neutral paper

the varied ACEOs 

will really be the focus

Couldn't resist adding a couple leaves 

Decided to bind it all with hemp

and it worked out! 

The bow is totally unneccessary

and I am not sure I'll keep it.

 Unryu paper with fibers colored with WN watercolors and some iridescent watercolors added for lights.

Attached to masa paper to give it some stability.

Cut to make an ACEO "blank"

Chinese brush with hand ground ink for the orchid. 

The color, texture and bits of iridescent color really pleased me.

Just Hanging Around

Here's a still life...why not? The acorns have been plunking all over the deck and bouncing on the roof luring the squirrels. As long as they're just hanging around I might as well use them for a greeting card.

Signs - of the season

Today there's more cold and rain and many more leaves departing the trees for the lawn. You'd never believe the lawn was cleared just a few days ago.
