Anticipation
Pair
It must have been the digging, dividing and replanting that got me anticipating the Irises. It's a good thing. Now I'm painting a few Easter cards and the Irises work for that format, too.

Raining out so I'm painting in!
All that digging in the dirt has me aching to see some bloom...maybe soon.

Optimism
The Watercolor challenge this month is Pine Cones. I've been finding them everywhere, even in the road. Optimistically, they will start a few trees or serve as munchies for the birds and squirrels. It's been awhile since I painted one with watercolors and I had forgotten what fun they are to draw.

Now I have a few others on my table...posing.

Played in the dirt and it was warm!
Terra Cotta Trio
Had several days of nice weather so I was outside digging in the dirt with my sister.
She loves working in the garden. We dug up all the Iris and thinned them, got rid of some weeds, moved a few bulbs, planted some new bulbs, and threw some seed around.
We even did some of this work in the rain. Unearthed a little newt. He might have been napping. Had to rinse him off a bit to get him to move to a safer location.
Today I added a few Penny jump ups to the bed. I really hope they spread...I adore their happy little faces! SHHHH don't tell the orchids :D

CELEBRATE Spring
Celebrate
We have enjoyed a few days of mild temperatures and SUNSHINE so best to celebrate Spring!
I'm off to take pictures of the blooming trees and bulbs to help me make it through our next batch of rainy days (and get a few reference photos for more watercolors).

Spring PLEASE
Dutch Tulips 4
This tulip reminds me of sunny Spring days and I hope they are on the way!
(Both the sunny days and the tulips :D )
This little painting is a tribute to Olga, an artist/photographer from wet canvas.
Olga traveled in Europe and shared many photos with the wet canvas community. I've enjoyed her canal shots in Venice and so many wonderful windows from everywhere.
I found a few Dutch Tulip shots and will attempt to paint them in her honor.

Poppin' UP
Dutch Tulips 3
These white tulips look so pristine, I couldn't resist adding them to the series.

Spring, Ready or Not
Dutch Tulips 1
A tulip with petals like lilies, in vibrant colors. I can't wait. The tulips aren't blooming at my home, yet.
