oops!

I have been painting

just haven't been posting here

for quite awhile

I guess...

so here's a few things I've been doing

I remember rain!  4x6

just so you know...

I'm not just sitting here idle

trying something new

Picked up some Faber Castell Gelatos to try out.

They match my Pitt Pens and Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils

so I thought they would be a fun thing to add to my supplies.

I tried making a color chart with a waterbrush and the creamy gelato sticks but didn't like the result.

Using them like crayons is a bit heavy handed.  Thanks to KD Sams, I put them on my craft mat  and redid the color chart. Richer color with control!

Using gelatos, pitt pen and watercolor pencil together was fun.

Then I tried to Glaze for a sealed product and ruined most of the work.

I suspect the mica paint touches and watercolor pencil were the culprits that smeared.

Looking forward to more play...

Very Fishy...

Back in the water, this time just looking at what lives underneath!
Looking kinda "fishy"!

This time there's a little iridescent and interference watercolors in the water and on the fishies.

What's in your pond?

I had no idea there were such a thing as butterfly koi.  I've seen ornamental carp in many places but they were all just the usual white, orange, yellow, black, or red.  Writhing in a big bunch looking for food, splashing about (in case you didn't notice they were there) or swimming bits of color flashes in the sun.

Butterfly Koi 1

These are a bit fancy. Flowing fins and scale markings and funny little fleshy bumps on their faces plus a lovely sheen that makes it difficult to get a good photo.

Butterfly Koi 2

Managed to paint these little bits while working on a larger pond-scape.

Sea Life
Let me take you on little trip under the sea where the sponges and coral are a playground for fishes. There's just a touch of sparkle on this one courtesy of LuminArte sparkling H2O colors.
