Unwinding....
Been a little tightly wound of late and needed to escape.
These flowers never impressed me before, did a large painting of their multicolored leaves years ago, Never in the right place at the right time, I guess. Found them at the zoo and the light must've been just right. Flowers are vibrant orange and the buds are purple/magenta with orange bits popping out.

This is really gorgeous, Lee. I love the colors and your composition.
what kind of flower is this? You did a great job on the folds, and the light and dark areas. It takes patience, and skill to create a painting like this.
thanks for stopping by my blog. I definitely need to get me some 'opera'.
I've heard lots about the Daniel Smith Watercolors, and may have to place a small order :-D
I have a few M. Grahams but they are sitting unopened. I feel like I need to get better before I break open the 'good stuff' lol! Maybe I should just try them out and see what happens :-)
