Retreat
As a kid I was only allowed one pet. No fur or feathers and small enough to reside in my room were the other restrictions.
Fish are nice to look at but you can't take them out to play.
I got a turtle at the 5 and dime along with a plastic bowl with a ramp and plastic palm tree.
Well, here I am all these years later in this painting holding my pet. Yes he's pulled himself back into his shell but just for the moment :D

Wow he is even more special with your story! He is beautiful!
I love him Lee! I also had a pet turtle with the plastic bowl, the ramp and the plastic palm - this brought back memories.
