Creamy paper...

 

 Greys

 So, I got this new watercolor paper and it isn't my usual bright white or even natural white. It's a lovely creamy white, toward the warm side.  Change in paper and an effort to try something new.  Looking to do a bit more high key or subtle work and a lot less definition.

The paper does look white...but softer than the familiar ultra white.

Start Over?

River Sunrise

A lack of sleep isn't always a bad thing.

I've been able to see a few glorious sunrises

and get several photos for reference.

Discovered my new paper 

is lousy for landscapes. 

I painted so many versions of this subject just to be sure.

We have no snow so I only grabbed a light jacket for the trip...

Photoshop? In a way...

Crescent City, CA

Years ago, we took a little trip 

down the Oregon coast

stopping to see lighthouses

beaches and boats.

I had my very first digital camera;

the rest of the universe 

was still using film.

It was 2.1 mp and had a couple features,

optical zoom wasn't one of them.

I was plodding around my many photo folders

and ran across one grey and blurry shot.

It was the last stop at the coast and I was disappointed 

that the tide wasn't out

and I couldn't walk out to the lighthouse for a better picture.

So, I ditched the rain and fog and here it is.
