Paint by theme?

california poppies
The eBay ACEO Group Theme Week subject is "wildflowers" this month. The first thing that came to mind were these orange/yellow poppies. They pop up everywhere, even in rock crevices. Most definitely sun lovers, they close up for the Oregon rain and open as soon as the sun hits.

Knowing that they reseed themselves and come back year after year, I've optimistically strewn seed in some areas in my yard. They will most assuredly be "sun spots"!

Someplace Warm...

A return to cool and rainy weather has me thinking of "Someplace Warm".

The mail brought a few new art supplies so I tested the new brushes on this little painting.

pink POPPY
I retreated inside today after a brief attempt to paint "en plein air" left me chilled to the bone.
Yearning to be someplace warm, I painted this little poppy. It's based on a photo shared by a wonderful artist in Watercolors Wet N Wild.

Thank You Barbara Ann!

Sunshiny Face

Sunshiny Face

Just a pale yellow and white viola (jump up) looking great in bunches in some pots on the deck. Today was really SUNday and it was warm and wonderful!

Faces, Happy Little Faces

Happy Face
After several days of planting Pansies and Violas (jump ups) I decided I really like their happy little faces.
Here's one of the many different faces I enjoy.

It's a test...

Hydrangea
I've always loved lilacs and hydrangeas. I think because they are a cluster of flowers. It also helps that they come in blues/purples.
It's been so long since I used big brushes, I had to complete a test. This painting is a quarter sheet of watercolor paper and my favorite (anything blue).
Now I'm off to work on something a little bit larger.

What did you do today?

Wildberries

I had a craving for blackberries, raspberries and marionberries.

So I took steps...

I still want a bowl of blackberries, raspberries and marionberries.

Just a Few More...

"Whatcha Doin'?"
This little guy has been asked that question before, no doubt!

A flamboyant bird portrait!
