childhood memories

Firefly Season

As a kid this was my favorite time of year. Armed with a mayonnaise jar with holes punched in the lid, I headed out into the summer night to catch some fireflies. All my friends and neighbors were out too. The adults were just admiring the sight while all the kids were trying to make their own night light in hopes of being allowed to sleep out in the yard.

Very nice, Lee. I remember doing this very same thing. I haven't seen any fireflies in so long I can't remember when I did.

Lee, your cottage series is my favorite so far. When I was little, we used to catch fireflies, but some of my cousins went even further. They would catch one, and then squish it on their ring finger to make a glow-in-the dark ring...or squish a bunch of them around their wrist for a glow-in-the-dark bracelet. Eeewwwww...

Carol, I've never seen fireflies in Oregon...just Upstate NY.

RoseAnn, did your cousins invent glo-sticks? No yucky mess LOL

Thanks! these little towns and neighborhoods are fun to do ;)
