Hydrangea - A Panoramic Version
Measuring 9 2/3 by 4 1/4 this is my larger version of blue hydrangea. Done very slowly, over a week in the making, on 140# Sennelier HP watercolor paper.
Lee, well done. I find myself in this mode quite often...when I go back to illustrating and not painting. I've shortened my grip on the brush handle, my nose is much closer to the paper, the strokes are getting smaller and smaller. That's when I say to myself...it's time to loosen up. Wet some paper, splash some strong pigment in there and watch it flow. Then I remember what watercolor is all about. Not being critical, just passing on what works for me. keep painting. Doug
This is so lovely and calm - just wonderful! I sure understand why you had to go slow! It is soooo complicated, and you'd have to go slow in order to keep from messing it up! I think I've mentioned, Lee, that my daughter wants a really big hydrangea painting for her living room, and I can't get up the courage to try it. Imagine doing this painting many times bigger. Ouch! You have the perfect hydrangea colors here! Lovely.

I was rather frustrated doing this and rather blind after.
I'm off to bigger pieces of paper and hopefully will loosen up a bit.
