Just Waiting for SPRING
Hibiscus
I know it isn't far off, the bulbs in my yard have popped up a little bit of green...can flowers be far behind?
As I think of the crocus, hyacinth, narcissus and tulip starts I remember the vivid coral hibiscus that grew in Florida. I may not miss the hot humid weather but the flowers were just gorgeous. This one is on a 5x7 watercolor greeting card, ready to mail.

Wish I stopped...
...long before I got to this point.
I am disappointed that the background has washed out all the colors in the white flowers.
But, I am still learning, isn't that great?

In the works
Gradually growing into larger work, this one is 12 x 16 in progress and will be matted at 11 x 15 give or take. Need to decide on a background and I'm not sure how dark I want to go. I like a mid value background so I can play with a cast shadow but a deep color would surely make the white orchids pop!
If you have an opinion, comment and share it. I'd love to hear your ideas.

Tulip
Warm thoughts.
In a month or less, the crocus should be up. Not long after that, narcissus and daffodils followed closely by these wonderful lily tulips. They even last a long time when cut and placed in a vase.
This watercolor painting is 7 x 10 and would be lovely matted and framed to 11 x 14 or even larger.

Antique Artist - Self Portrait
it was just black and white.
Most snapshots were black and white, too.
This 4x6 portrait is based on a snap taken as I finished bawling.
Near as I can figure, I wasn't allowed to play in this get up and that upset me - obviously.
I preferred dungarees. Remember that word?

Beach Dreams
It snowed here again. I am focused on all things non-winter. Today I hauled out the shell collection and made sure I had photos of them all. I actually got a little sand on my drafting table. It was quite nice.

Pink Lady with some old stuff!
It's no secret I like painting stuff that's older than me.
It reminds me just how far we've come in a short while. Now the apple is new and will soon have a little caramel on it and then it will be gone. Just like that...POOF! So I thought it might be nice to do a little portrait of "pink lady" before she was no more.
Gotta go the caramel is ready!
